Mission

The Lake Chabot Junior Golf Academy’s mission is to provide every child, regardless of race, social or economic background, the opportunity to learn and play golf. While instilling the game’s inherently positive values, such as honesty, integrity, sportsmanship and self discipline developed through the game of golf for greater life experience and to make better citizens.  

Goals

The Lake Chabot Junior Golf Academy’s goal is to provide free, year round golf for youth from 8 and 18 years of age:

1) To provide instruction and education on the game of golf to inner city youth within Oakland, California and surrounding areas.

2) To teach golf skills and the rules of the game. Most students that we see are first time golfers, and on completion of the session think that they benefited from the program.

3) To teach and promote life skills such as safety, courtesy, rules, and patience

Curriculum

At The Lake Chabot Junior Golf Academy we have a plan to not only teach the students what golf is but to help them achieve their goals with in  golf and life. With this in mind we do not cater to the talented youth of our area. We provide a program for all the youth that wants to participate in golf. We recognize that not all students will achieve the level of performance that will propel them to the next level. We also structure a program that will provide the serious youth with the tools and instruction needs to take them to the next level. While providing the youth who do not show the promise that is sought by some, the opportunity to learn and feel a level of accomplishment thru the curriculum.  

At The Lake Chabot Junior Golf Academy we evaluate our youth on a continuous basis to monitor their progress so that we give every student the help that is appropriate. This is done through the proper instruction of the basics such as safety posture, stance, grip, the mechanics of the golf swing, the rules of the game, and code of conduct.
